Personal websites as an atproto onboarding strategy
ATProto, POSSE, and Personal Sites
My little weekend experiment to bring micro updates to my personal site
ATProto ideas
If AT Protocol becomes “a meaningful layer of the web” — even if it’s only tens of millions of users — then the winning ideas probably won’t only be futuristic...
Why I'm betting on ATProto (and why you should, too) — Brittany Ellich
Social media was supposed to connect us, but most of it has turned into ads, division, and loneliness. I'm betting on ATProto as a way to fix that, and not just for developers. Whether you're a scientist, journalist, or just someone who wants the internet to feel human again, I think ATProto matters for you too.
@danabra.mov do you think it makes sense to frame atproto as providing a data and identity layer to the web, or as aiming to improve the web? I never want to overstep (see crypto claiming web3) but atproto is extremely web-brained like you said, and the web is where a lot of the utility shines
Tried to explain a bit of the use case of @varsityapex.com and why it made sense to integrate ATproto features. A full fledged site would make even more use, for the demo just opted to make records of non-score items. Tour: varsityapex.com/tour Was fun to explore the problem space a bit

Found a conventional use for atproto (replacing high school state associations/athletic conference/school sports websites) the other day and built a spec because I couldn't help myself. it's live but I'll share a blog post about it before sharing
One thing I continue to see missing in many atproto discussions is some of the things businesses need. Example: I see website builders but I haven't seen permission-ed logins for multiple people to access them. Ways for a publication to have mult authors & the journalists to also own their content.
There's lots I haven't yet understood about atproto, but I simply won't do the standard.site thing whilst it offers a worse UX than… not doing it.

It keeps confusing me that the main call to action in these cards (the button) does NOT go to the article but to the main website Is it just me that finds this weird...? The main visual CTA for a card about an article should go to that article no...?
Once you experience shared lexicons and the benefits of a single portable identity, it feels like a new open network. But the most important part is that it practically works as an extension of the web. We can add social features to our websites without even mentioning atproto. Frictionless adoption
