Becoming a better atproto citizen

atproto'd my website a bit further (beyond the @standard.site integration): 1) added a "Right now" box on the homage that pulls in all kinds of atproto activity like @bsky.app posts, @popfeed.social film ratings, @bookhive.buzz reads, @tangled.org repo's etc.

One thing I look for in a blogging platform (whether atproto or otherwise): a way of backing up/exporting my content. This is more important to me than being able to tweak design/fonts etc. Have learned this from hard experience; I've used manymany blogging platforms over the decades.

Had fun adding support for @standard.site to my blog. The richer preview card on #bsky looks neat. Another benefit is, since all the entries now live in the #ATmosphere, all kinds of #ATProto apps can index and display them. This is cool, like a mix of blog / digital garden / link log… strikes me that this kind of thing would be *really* good on atproto! Could be a single doc (like a @leaflet.pub looseleaf) & e.g. a new subpage each week, embed links or @semble.so collections, ppl can comment, re-share when updated…

This is what “everything ecosystem” means. Bluesky isn’t going to build a longform blogging service. What they can do with longform (and many other atproto apps) is use the shared formats of the atmosphere to enhance the experience and interaction with your content, wherever you like to post.

The blog's standard.site records now carry cover images, a publication icon and theme, and the strongRefs Bluesky uses for enhanced link cards.
