I tried to explain in the write up that single app with sales is probably out of scope - aka a solo dev small business. I think there is opportunity there, but I think it’s a well understood model: make a great product, charge people for it! Fill out the form, I’m happy to give feedback.

You need to separate sales from marketing. Sales is a conversation, marketing is... | Hacker News
For B2B sales resembles project management: the goal is not to convince everyone to buy your product or service but to diagnose their needs and only engage with firms that will benefit.
Open Market (openmkt.app) - An AT Proto Marketplace
Hey guys, I think it’s time for me to share my project here. I’ve been working on this idea since last year, had a very cold launch in January, and have reached a point of stability where I’m confident the app is ready for the mainstream. Open Market is an aggregator (think of Google Shopping) aiming to help people promote their products, art, or anything they plan to sell. This includes used goods and pretty much anything else. The app creates a personal storefront for every AT Protocol user....

Sustainable Indie Software — Helftone
We have seen a large shift in the app economy over the past 7 years which has had a huge impact on indie software. In many ways, we have regressed to state which is simply unsustainable in the long term. If you only look at the highly publicised successes, you might assume independent developers are rolling in cash. Do not be fooled, the situation on the ground, especially on iOS, is actually very different – many indies are struggling to make a living.
Evolving App Store Business Models - David Smith, Independent iOS Developer
I’ve been thinking this past week (as I often do) about the ever-changing landscape of the App Store. This year has seen some of the biggest changes in policy and structure that I can remember. We have new subscription pricing models, search ads, a substantial purge of older apps, new requirements for app names and a variety of little changes to the App Store app itself in iOS 10.
Project vs. Product, Startup vs. Business
A couple of weeks ago I dropped into a thread by Mosh Lee, about how ATproto has too many projects and too few businesses. Yes!

There's Life Beyond the App Store
With the imminent release of Foundation for Apps, we've been chatting a lot about apps and how they're built. We've discussed the topic internally with our team, externally with our clients and with tons of our amazing ZURB friends. Much of that discussion revolved around not just how to produce apps, but what an app really is, how they differ from websites and even the future of where they'll go.

Free-to-Use, Unless You Are a Cloud Provider (The New Strategy?)
On the heels of my talk about the current licensing challenges to single-vendor open source firms, I want to discuss the resulting strategy for vendors selling to developers. Single-vendor open sou…

Solving the "marketplace" business model - @ASmartBear
I'm amazed how many startups follow the "marketplace" pattern but don't acknowledge or address the peculiar difficulties of that model. Here's some guidance.

This is a very straight forward atproto-business play btw 1. bring (the feature-complete) UnInbox into the atmosphere: put a PDS on it & accept open-social login 2. promptly charge indie teams like mine flat rates (no seats) of $100/yr and up for managed service. Outcompete missiveapp.com/pricing
Erlend Sogge Heggen
Note to @mk.gg and @cloudflare-dev.bsky.social DevRel folks: There’s a feature-complete team-mail client called UnInbox that’s no longer in business, but the dev is trying to bring the (self-)hosting costs close to zero, which is the sort of thing Cloudflare excels at 👀 github.com/un/inbox
