Embracing ATProto, part 1: Setting up a PDS
In this series of posts, I'll explore my journey into setting up my workflows and services for atproto. The first step is setting up my PDS. Let's start with a bit of explanation for all this lingo.

Very glad you asked! Bluesky runs on tech called AT Protocol, which lets you use that same account on sites like rpg.actor via process called OAuth which keeps your password away from our server. Login actually takes you to a bsky.social page that lists what read / write our site wants in to use:

blog.nekomimi.petIt's hard for non-technical people to understand that #atproto (Bluesky, and friends) really is a different breed of social software. One where our data, and connections are no longer taken hostage by the platform and we're free to store our data wherever we want
Well, atproto *is* an open protocol so... I'm looking into an excension of the schema to allow accounts that are declaring that they're automated to optionally declare details about that automation, including an operator, a purpose, even an interaction model. Aids in both discovery and moderation!
Every post, like, and blog entry on atproto sits in your Personal Data Server (PDS) as structured data you own, which means building experiences that are extremely customized to you has never been easier. atproto + AI is incredibly powerful! #atproto
