Our members and volunteers have been hard at work building out our services/infra and we’re happy to announce that the Northsky Social App is live! We’ve spruced it up with some features you’re going to enjoy. This is one more step in our plan to provide a community platform fully operated by us.

Northsky Update #5: We're sending invites!
We’re sending out invites to our subscribers starting next week! We’ve been hard at work on our migration tool, testing and tweaking with even the largest and oldest accounts (stress testing), and refining the process with feedback. All to say, we’re ready to start taking users.
NorthStar Social: About Us
NorthStar Social is where your public and private social networks converge. The world's first decentralized local-first social network to keep you in control of your data. Your privacy is too precious to leave in the hands of corporations and billionaries who don’t have your best interests in mind. Privacy is built-in. Your public and personal social connections in one app.
In 2026, @bsky.app is focused on what’s next for open social: bringing together users for conversations around live events, creator and platform monetization, and private state, giving users truly private data while preserving ownership and portability at the protocol level.

Recent events have a lot of people asking "what is northsky?" We're still working on revamping our website, but this video about migrating to Northsky does a quick job of explaining our account hosting services:
