There's lots I haven't yet understood about atproto, but I simply won't do the standard.site thing whilst it offers a worse UX than… not doing it.

Every lexicon, every "app" on ATProto is a "yes and" waiting for your contribution to the vision. We're all first party developers.

Frankly atproto is a great technology that just has yet to really be successfully productized. A few orgs are putting real work into that productization now but only time will tell if it succeeds.

Do atproto spaces mean that trying to monetize "teams" is harder? That was a go to payment model for many apps

the hard pill to swallow is that 99% of people do not care about whether an app is on "atproto" or if its "decentralized" so long as it works you will not sell the decentralization aspect if your app runs like shit and isn't fun to use even moreso if it's VC Claude slop which is 90% of atproto ww

while the permissionlessness vector of atproto will certainly enable new things we can't imagine the pattern of "____ but on atproto" is key for taking our daily lives back. a framing i prefer is "i can now do {boringDailyLifeThing} without {shittyExtractiveApp}"

Have had this conversation more than once that essentially having to buy a domain and host a distinct machine for every single idea to be a poc in ATProto sux

"ATProto could usher in one of the largest redistributions of wealth in modern history" is an eye opening and not unrealistic claim to make if we all make this thing work.

That should be the guiding principle for all atproto "alternatives"
