Oh dear lord, I knew it was bad, but didn't know it was this bad: hackers.pub/@fedify/2026/why-activitypub-… (I've mostly just contributed to activitypub projects that already existed, so didn't usually need to experience these specific pains)
Why implementing ActivityPub is hard, and why it doesn't have to be

FediForum Talk: How To Bullshit Your Way Through a Conversation about ActivityPub
By Evan Prodromou, Social Web Foundation and editor of the ActivityPub standard. One of the best bluffers in the field of distributed social networks gives you just enough knowledge about ActivityP...
ActivityPub
ActivityPub is a protocol and open standard for decentralized social networking. It provides a client-to-server (C2S) API for creating and modifying content, as well as a federated server-to-server (S2S) protocol for delivering notifications and content to other servers. ActivityPub is the defining standard of the Fediverse, a decentralised social network of various social interaction models, and content types, which consists of independently managed instances of software such as Mastodon, Pixelfed and PeerTube, among others.

There are no instances in ATProto | Hacker News
I feel like you've (perhaps purposefully?) misinterpreted "instances" just to plug ATProto specifically at the expense of ActivityPub (and RSS, a bit). I think you lower yourself by doing this:
Your WordPress Site — From RSS Feed to Social Account
Radical Speed Month is over, and the Reader’s new Social section is now live. Your Fediverse-enabled WordPress site can be used from inside it, and the plugin’s ActivityPub API has its …

My thoughts on how Ghost might join Fediverse
The folks who make Ghost, the wonderful software that runs this site, and my comic site incredibledoom.com recently put up a poll asking how folks would like them to implement one of their most requested features: ActivityPub support. Here's what I told them.

ICYMI, I've been quietly reviving Known, renamed it to Idno (its original name), and set it up so it both posts to ActivityPub and syncs to a PDS via standard.site. Not production-ready but super fun. My test instance (with very WIP design) is at idno.werd.io.
I'm certainly not against saying what I think AT Protocol has wrong. github.com/swicg/activitypub-api/issues/…

Introducing Hubble: A Public Mirror for the Whole Atmosphere - AT Protocol
atproto.comGod I know people find this site slightly annoying or whatever but this is the pinnacle of social media to me. This whole feed is running on someone's CPU serving thousands of users in a decentralised manner. Absolutely lovely. Thank you space cowboy

The For You feed is going to be down while I'm upgrading the CPU from AMD 7900 (12 core) to AMD 9950X3D (16 core). This should increase how many users it can serve by ~50%-100%. If all goes well it should be back up in an hour or two.
