Happy to see @wsocial.eu making this move. I may disagree with a lot of what they do, but this is a big step in the right direction, especially as their tool supports outward migrations too. I'm also pleased to see the "give me a recovery key" option. Every PDS should have this on sign-up too.

The migration tool is ready. You can now move your account to W from any AT Protocol provider, and out of W to any other. Fully automated, both directions. Your handle, your followers, your posts. They all come with you. Moving in still needs an invite code. Moving out never will.

here is how i've been explaining PDS migration to the 115 users i've migrated: imagine your bluesky account as being an apartment. you're upset the rent is changing, so you move to a cheaper apartment on the other side of town. after you move, you have to update your address with the post office.

Migrating your Bluesky account the hard way
jola.dev1/X I made an atproto proposal around PDS to PDS repo migration that gets around all of the pain points of account migration today and intentionally builds a migration flow for users to go to the PDS that they want to move to and commence the migration from there.
