1/5 We’ve upgraded W’s verified badge to give you more context about the person behind the keyboard. Real humans. More trust. Your real name stays optional.
Actually, having one Identity for yourself is a Breaching Experiment
This should really be a comment to Henry’s post, but I have the keys to this car, so I’m going to drive it, too. We have Zuckerberg’s remark:

Inside Design Tokens: Naming
Naming design tokens can sometimes be considered its own discipline. Naming is surprisingly straight forward, and if it isn't then it solves the wrong problem.

#WSocial posted a message on their official account talking about "temporary profile issues" for "some W users." Reality (exposed in my latest article): their network was BRICKED for ALL NEW USERS who joined starting on June 22 (some 3100+ accounts out of 5000) for 7+ days. An amateur reporter and self-hosting newbie (aka me) figured out the problem and the solution, bringing attention to this matter. I had to respond: https://mu.social/profile/elenarossini.com/post/3mpig4ggkpk2q hope others chime in 🤭

Can someone help @xeronimo.wsocial.eu ? @pds.dad nobody knows more than you on this topic. @wsocial.eu don’t have a migration feature and their account deletion is broken.

Is it possible to move one's W account to eurosky?
even if you're going to do legal identity verification (which sucks!), i don't like that they didn't even attempt to make the user own their own data in their own repo, and make verification only be a record with a strongRef in W's repo. why publish full names and birthdates to W's own repo? wild

🤦♀️ #WSocial is posting legal names, nationalities and approx. birthdays of verified users as a public record on the Atmosphere. Confronted, they claim it's "by design" 🤯

www.w3.orgIt looks like W Identity, the part of @wsocial.eu that checks your papers before you go in, has a very basic XSS on its admin backend, found hours after launch. This seems almost too predictable... Cyberfriends, any thoughts on how bad? 23.social/@kantorkel/116767220594438841
