As @ricardo.bsky.social might put it, the infrastructure behind the Bluesky app is becoming more like a product (as opposed to a project). A natural evolution would be to charge Atmosphere app developers who piggyback on it and would like to have standard commercial SLAs and technical support.
AT Protocol Developers
Today we’re launching Bluesky Protocol Services, a new brand and website for the infrastructure Bluesky operates. And Jetstream v2, the best way for developers to use atproto at scale, now with network replay. atproto.com/blog/introducing-bluesky-prot…

Benefits of an open network
While Bluesky looks like other social apps, it’s actually quite different. It’s an open network.

The ATmosphere is the information ecosystem based on ATproto, the protocol developed by and for Bluesky. More interconnected apps are emerging. The potential for better online conversations is profound... if adequate revenue streams can be confirmed.

What's Next at Bluesky - Bluesky
As we head into 2026, we're entering a new phase for the Bluesky app. Last year was about scaling through rapid growth and getting the fundamentals in place. This year is about leaning into what's working and investing more intentionally in the things that make Bluesky different.

✨ Atmosphere devs ✨ Bluesky is integrating Standard Site, and our initial work should be released in the next few days. Here's what that means for publishers and apps in the ecosystem: github.com/bluesky-social/atproto/discus… If you have questions or comments, please leave them on the GitHub Discussion thread!

github.comWhen @bsky.app pulls this kind of crap often, whilst also expecting the community to do the heavy-lifting in actually convincing people to try out the AT Protocol... it's really difficult to feel hopeful about the future of Bluesky and its constituents. I imagine many agree with this stance.

Bluesky’s statement deriding Threads users as “guinea pigs” is not representative of Blacksky Algorithms, the atproto ecosystem or the open social web more broadly. Communities form around communication networks. And communities should never be trolled for whatever tool helps them find each other.
Bluesky is scared to commit to making a universal app that works with any atproto lexicon. I am not. And am pretty committed to our social-app fork being able to work with more and more content types (short video, fintech, blogs, music, etc.) Acorn customers get this for their communities too.

Also, will any platforms using acorn have access to these integrations as well?
The sooner the Atmosphere becomes less Bluesky-centric, the better for everyone, include Bluesky PBC. It's fantastic to have bsky as a launching pad, but the Atmosphere's potential is so so much bigger. Let this year be the year we have big succesful apps where the bsky association is incidental.
I think it’s time to elevate the Atmosphere branding as ‘your everything-account for the Internet’. Bluesky is not “the last social identity you’ll ever have to create”, your Atmosphere identity is. Bluesky = one of many Google apps Atmosphere = your Google account

my initial though is that if we expand the PDS account manager and have most major account actions take place there, it could help. eg, similar to how youtube would probably direct you to google accounts for full account deletion, and then it is clear that impact goes beyond youtube
Bluesky isn’t just one app. It’s part of a much larger ecosystem, and your account is the key. Here are 7 useful apps you can log into with your @bsky.app account that you should know about.

storm.leaflet.pubBluesky is not a social network or a product or a service, it is fundamentally a promise - a promise that you can decide — with others in your social geography — where you want to be in the digital world, and you don’t have to lose all of the bits that represent you in the process.

Is Bluesky dying? Is it the community's fault? Should people here refrain from criticizing journalists who think J. K. Rowling might have a point? The thing is, it doesn't matter. Because the answer isn't to make Bluesky change. It's to take advantage of Bluesky's tech to build something else.
