We collaborated with @timothychambers.net to provide a follow-up from his "Seven Deadly UX Sins for the #Fediverse" series. It's a way to reflect on how things have changed over the past six months, with clear ideas on where things are headed.

Two pieces of good news for W Social: 1) I may have found the problem that has bricked their network for the past week. 2) This may very well be the LAST article I ever write about them. It's exhausting and stressful and I want to retire from this beat and go back to promoting the Fediverse. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. And to my trusted source (a Fedi friend) who found and shared with me brilliant gems: THANK YOU! It's been a real honor collaborating with you ❤️
Manton Reece - Email to SWICG about handles
A few days ago there was a discussion on the Social Web Incubator Community Group mailing list about fediverse handles. I sent an email to the list that I want to capture on my blog here.

Fediverse projects - Join the Fediverse
Fediverse projects are the different software parts of the Fediverse. Many of them are replacements for better-known social media platforms.

FR#161 – Conference Edition
How the conferences FediForum and 2mr.social this week show how fediverse is trying to build connections with European politics, as well as with the atmosphere.

There is One Fediverse. There are a Million Fediverses.
Over the past several years I’ve listened to admins, mods, and community managers from across the decentralised social media landscape. I’ve been in the chats, attended the conferences,…

Attached: 1 image It's the third time I am receiving what I can only generously assume to be an automated e-mail from #WSocial trying to convince me, the original founder (and still active advisor and proponent) of one of their competitors, to start posting on their platform.

I think the #Ghost and #Wordpress federations pose interesting questions about what #fediverse platforms can and should be. Do we actually want blogs and feeds of blogs folded into a mastodon/microblog social feed? Do we want to read and comment on blogs on mastodon? Do we want all the diversity of the fediverse fed into a single platform's UI and hope that it works well? Are we worried that some choices by our platform or instance admin might hinder this process? I'm rather skeptical. 1/
The Fediverse Explained: Social Media’s Next Form
The fediverse is a network of social media platforms that are interconnected. Find the answers to fediverse FAQs here.

Any big Fediverse users around? In github.com/singi-labs/sifa-workspace/iss… we are exploring how to integrate your Fediverse activity into Sifa and what that could/should look like. If you have any ideas/suggestions/opinions about this, we'd love to hear about them before building.

github.comOne thing I left out of my The Everything Account piece was a whole section on Bridgy Fed. Short version: As Bridgy Fed adds more lexicons, it makes the Atmosphere the most versatile and data-owning Fediverse instance in the open social web. Perhaps in a future piece 😉

I wrote about what I've been calling "The Everything Account" If you're familiar with The Atmosphere, you already know how to get one, and this should hopefully help you explain it to others. For those of you who aren't, you'll be surprised to know you already have one; here's how you use it:
Today, we're announcing THREE migration-focused updates! We now support every kind of migration on all the networks Bridgy Fed supports (including web!): into Bridgy Fed, out of it, through it, and around it, all while keeping you connected with your people. Let's dive in... 1/🧵
