Today's Heron release expands standard site support significantly. A lot of the ideas in Alex's post below already existed in Heron, and now you can subscribe to standard site publications directly from the timeline! Check out the video to see Heron's integration 😊

Skysquare is a useful demonstration of something that feels much bigger than the application itself—the portability of the ATProto post.
the general bsky userbase being a lil dismissive of the standard.site integration is a reminder that this whole atproto atmosphere ecosystem is a long game. not everyone will be on board, and that's ok! we'll be ready to welcome people into a decentralized social future as big social fades away :)

has anyone done an explainer on why standard.site is cool? I can usually see the promise in new developments here and I'm sure I'm missing something but I'm just not getting it
