reuse
Reuse means the use of a piece of technology for new purposes, often ones that were never envisioned by the original designers. Reusability refers to design that makes reuse possible.
Blob store design challenges
It's just hashed data, what's so complex about a blob store anyway?
file collection
A file collection is a set of computer files that is deliberately maintained by someone. In today's computing, most non-personal files can be considered temporary: they have been downloaded from somewhere and can always be redownloaded if needed again. The practice of actual file collection is becoming ever more marginal, but it has a place in permacomputing for increasing resilience and reducing network dependency.
bloat
Bloat refers to something wastefully and unnecessarily large. In software, it may refer to the presence of program code that is perceived as unnecessarily long, slow, or otherwise wasteful of resources, but a considerable amount of bloat originates from external dependencies.

Oauth scopes vs record permissions
i hope this is an alright place to put this, but it was just a thought i had inspired by this tweet even with oauth scopes, i think that interoperability between applications is a tough problem because i have to fully trust every oauth client that i use with access to record namespaces. so if i have existing bluesky records, and then i want to use a different application which wants to be able to create and delete bluesky records, either i can’t use bluesky features in that application, or i ne...

When is a delete, not a delete? When it’s an publicly routable placeholder.

at this point for each day that goes i hate the atproto blob type more and more. like. not blobs themselves at all. but the damn data model representation of a blob reference. why does it have the mime type there ... arguably even the size. could technically even just be a plain CID link but cant
Is this a thing? Something about private data on AT Proto, where a person could purchase content and have a copy of said content injected into their Private Data, so it could not be removed without their consent? I’m thinking “I’ve bought a copy of a book, and now the book blob lives in my PDS”
For me personally there is a journey here - I was a firm believer in archive everything. This peaked in a period where I was very interested in IPFS, CIDs, CAS, etc. Now, the next step. Post-Archive(-Everything). Through a series of conversations I came to the conclusion that forgetting is probably more powerful than remembering. The links in this collections play a similar note, or are related to my understanding of this.
