FR#161 – Conference Edition
How the conferences FediForum and 2mr.social this week show how fediverse is trying to build connections with European politics, as well as with the atmosphere.

Fediverse
The Fediverse is a collection of social networking services that can communicate with each other using a common protocol. Users of different websites can send and receive status updates, multimedia files and other data across the network. The term Fediverse is a portmanteau of federation and universe.

"Applications may, optionally, parse and display IDN handles as Unicode." This really needs to be amended, as this is really bad advice for protocol documentation in 2026. It should strongly encourage full support for the worlds languages just like a web browser. atproto.com/specs/handle
