The left chart tiers authors by actual follower count (at analysis time). The right chart tiers authors by median likes per post — a proxy for effective reach. Interesting divergence: under the follower definition, medium-size accounts show no 4-img penalty; under median-engagement, the pattern is different.

is it normal for the followerCount on a @bsky.app profile to have SUCH a different response from app.bsky.graph.getFollowers?
The thought occurred to me (belatedly) that maybe there are other accounts on the promotional website that aren’t actually on W Social yet. Right now, wsocial.news shows me 4 users who are indeed on W Social and 3 who aren’t: @london.gov.uk, @beate.neos.eu, and @teresaribera.ec.europa.eu.

It's important to understand: social networks are not meant to be one-size-fits all! When Meta (which makes Threads, as well as Facebook and Instagram) creates platforms that have hundreds of millions of users, they do things like enable genocides, where tens of thousands of innocent people die.

Majority of links are behind paywalls which I get; subscriptions in media are everywhere bc platforms killed distribution. How much traffic data actually translates to reading the article? I open links all the time and then close them bc of the paywall. We are reviving discovery but who’s reading?
So the people launching a new Twitter under the name Twitter launched their thing so I signed up. Turns out they have an AI scanning tweets for "truth" and it currently has no idea what it's doing. Posted something innocuous about Star Wars Zero Company and it essentially blocked it from all feeds.
