Rupert Lowe on why he has signed the Save Europe Act petition: he wants tens of millions deported from Europe. It was initiated by Martin Sellner, the former neo-nazi holocaust denier who went on to found Generation Identity to campaign for mass remigration because of the great replacement theory.

W Social, Fictional Metrics and the Beauty of Open Data
W Social's tagline is "Trust Your Feed" but the company's landing page displays inflated engagement metrics - a misrepresentation that contradicts its own promise.

đ¨ New post alert đ A deep dive into #WSocial with some fascinating findings: candid statements about their motives, a Greta Thunberg connection, potential AI plans (!!!) Why write about it again? I still had so many questions after publishing my first article. I spent 3 weeks watching every interview I could find and connecting the dots. I hope you'll enjoy this piece: đ : https://blog.elenarossini.com/the-untold-story-about-w-social-unconventional-beginnings-strategic-pitches-conflicting-signals/ #blog #longread #privacy #DataMining #Europe

Note: This was originally published as a LinkedIn post on November 11, 2025. I need to make a painful confession: somehow, LinkedIn has become an important social network to me. This isnât necessarily due to LinkedInâs sparkling competence, of course. To the contrary, LinkedIn is the Gerald Ford of social networks: the normal one that was left standing as the Richard Nixons and the Spiro Agnews of social media imploded around them. As with Gerald Ford, with LinkedIn we know that weâre getting something a bit clumsy and boring, but (as with post-Watergate America!), weâre also getting something that isnât totally crookedâââand thatâs actually a bit of a relief.

SCOOP: #WSocial is doctoring metrics on its homepage, inflating the number of comments on posts by prominent people on its network. I suppose a more accurate tagline for them should be "Trust your feed?" Discerning Audiences Through Like Buttons ¡ Issue 6.1, Winter 2024
Column Editorâs Note: The âlike buttonâ is a ubiquitous and infamous feature of social media platforms. âLikesâ ostensibly allow users to interact and engage with one another, but platform developers hope that data generated by usersâ likes allows them to model, predict and even manipulate both individual and collective affective states. This Mining the Past column by communication scholar Carina Albrecht explores the history of the like button from âLittle Annie,â developed at CBS in the mid-twentieth century, to the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Throughout this history, researchers and tech developers hoped to make âsubjectivitiesââemotions, preferences, personalities, political orientationsâinto âobjectivitesâ; they sought to turn inner worlds into profitable data. Albrechtâs history reveals that the like button is best understood not as a passive recorder of preexisting affect and sentiment, but rather as a data technology that generated the emotive effects the button claimed to measure.

Attached: 2 images Dear Fedi friends, Apologies for another toot about #WSocial but I am genuinely shaking right now. The @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu and its president Ursula von der Leyen have recently migrated their ATproto (Bluesky) accounts to W Social. I cannot fathom why they would pick a private enterprise whose leaders didn't even have ATproto accounts 3 months ago... and who are so open to having their users' data mined to train European AI models. My articles on them: đ : https://blog.elenarossini.com/tag/w-social/ Wow. Just wow.
