Announcing Fanfiction.lol: A Manifesto on Human Creativity and AO3
I deployed my own AO3 fork called fanfiction.lol, an independent fanfiction archive with no invite queue, fandom-agnostic moderation, and expanded content warnings. A manifesto on why fan communities deserve free infrastructure, the history of transformative works from Virgil to AO3, and the challenges of running a volunteer-powered archive at scale.
Experimenting with the idea of a fully skeuomorphic @lexicon.community events client that focuses on flyers & posters instead of thumbnails/icons and will be aimed at local groups and venues. Just had fun with procedural-generation of the corkboard background.

can someone get a design/branding grant to give @atmosphere.community a brand that will work for universal login? the goose is a fantastic mascot, it's just not a logo (i.e. it doesn't work on a universal login button). the @ is cool, but not distinct enough. it's also too techie.

this may run counter to your thinking, which is why I'll suggest it to challenge you: a webwide login should use the Bluesky icon and name, not "atmosphere". Facebook logins never changed to Meta- I think it will be hard to build trust with a "faceless" service as a universal account.
Which logo would you put in front of your ATprotocol handle if you had to put it on a poster or website? Mostly I've seen people using the Bluesky logo, but now there's mu.social, @eurosky.social, @blackskyweb.xyz and others, all with their own logo's, it's starting to get confusing.
I have high hopes for @mu.social as a proving ground for democratic social media, given ample support from the atmosphere community. With the help of civilized-discourse expert @jonathanwarden.com we can have Community Notes on atproto, starting with mu.
