I saw some talk about "everything apps" and it got me thinking a little bit about it. With the Atmosphere I feel like a really cool part about it is that we can make all of our apps "everything" apps. It's not "my app's data" or "your app's data" anymore. We can color outside the lines.

zicklag.leaflet.pubin a community like ours, i think it’s tacky to say “stop using [Atmosphere app] and use [other Atmosphere app] instead” when i released @aturi.to i didn’t tell people to stop using @pds.ls or @atproto.at with @anisota.net, you won’t find me saying “ditch bluesky, mu, blacksky, etc”
I see talk on here about the public being "platform brained", and a lot of that in my experience comes down to impatience. It's what you see when mainstream apps change layout. People have expectations about how apps are supposed to work, and learning something else is an imposed waste of effort.

My take on the "explaining atproto" discourse is that all the UX/filesystem/etc metaphors are still very verbose and that you can explain the same idea in a lot less words: It separates data from apps, so any app can use data from any other app. That fits in a tweet, with other sentences around it.
