The Long Tail of Work Left Until ActivityPub Has E2EE - Dhole Moments
Separate from my proposal for key transparency for the Fediverse (which I’ve certainly blogged about a lot), the W3C has been working on building out end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for Activity…

ActivityPub Won by Being Boring
At FediForum 2026, ActivityPub co-author Evan Prodromou explained why the protocol succeeded by staying deliberately ordinary and why the W3C's Q3 2026 revision needs to keep it that way.

Decentralization Trade Offs in AT Protocol and ActivityPub DWeb Camp 2026
Christine Lemmer Webber is lead author and co-editor of the W3C ActivityPub specification. Daniel Holmgren is Head of Protocol at Bluesky, working on the AT Protocol specification at the IETF. Join us for a discussion on decentralization trade-offs and other design decisions in the two protocols, and what that means for different architectures, structures, and even future points of convergence. Moderated by Boris Mann
Ghost's ActivityPub Integration Feels Half-Baked
Their work is far from over, but lack of development and progress is leaving me wanting.
Developer Documentation for ActivityPub & Fediverse | SocialDocs

Every Voice and Video Call on Discord Is Now End-to-End Encrypted
As of March 2026, E2EE is now enforced for every voice and video call on Discord. This represents a multi-year commitment, and Discord’s VP of Engineering is here to talk about why it matters.

ActivityPub, AT Protocol, and more!
Talking about this article and how ActivityPub and AT Protocol are maybe not as different as people might think. We covered some slides to an unrecorded talk of mine, which explores a lot of things...
ActivityPods - Personal data spaces powered with ActivityPub
Brings together ActivityPub and Solid Pods and empowers developers to create truly decentralized applications.

ActivityPub
ActivityPub is a protocol and open standard for decentralized social networking. It provides a client-to-server (C2S) API for creating and modifying content, as well as a federated server-to-server (S2S) protocol for delivering notifications and content to other servers. ActivityPub is the defining standard of the Fediverse, a decentralised social network of various social interaction models, and content types, which consists of independently managed instances of software such as Mastodon, Pixelfed and PeerTube, among others.
FOSDEM 2026 - How to level up the fediverse
The fediverse isn't done! Or, at least, that's the opinions of ActivityPub co-authors Christine Lemmer-Webber and Jessica Tallon! Discover how we could improve the fediverse with ActivityPub-compatible improvements to add more robust and secure communication/cooperation patterns, decentralized storage and identity, etc! Plus: how Spritely is starting to apply its technology towards exactly this goal, bringing Spritely's next-generation internet tech to the fediverse!

EFF is Leaving X
After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X. This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue.

Integrating ActivityPub within Solid specs
I’ve been spending a bit of time catching up on this discussion and experimenting. I have successfully subscribed to remote ActivityPub actors and processed inbox activities. (My write-up: JG10 Solid devlog ) I ended up using an architecture not yet mentioned here, in which the inbox and outbox are public append LDP containers that receive activities. Solid notifications are used to notify an external agent that reads the new activity and processes it. This works because Solid already supports...

ActivityPub, AT Protocol, and more!
From Bluesky’s work on permissions data, to adding e2ee to activitypub, there are a lot of projects working on private data, converging towards something that’s roughly Matrix-shaped. But the dynamics underneath turned out to be stranger than I thought connectedplaces.online/reports/fr163-decrypting-matr…
FR#163 – Decrypting Matrix
connectedplaces.onlineI'm certainly not against saying what I think AT Protocol has wrong. github.com/swicg/activitypub-api/issues/…
