ATmosphere technology to support organizing and activism
I’m working on a post about anti-surveillance organizing and activism on decentralized social networks, and one of the points I’m going to make is that the ATmosphere offers a lot of Innovative and very useful functionality for organizers that doesn’t exist on centralized social networks today, and complements decentralized implementations of classic social network activism tools like blogs, newsletters, microblogging, live-streaming, etc. Here’s some of the examples I have so far … custom f...

Ambient Co-presence
Creating a subtle, peripheral, and synchronous sense of shared space and context on the web

FWIW the most cohesive big picture atmosphere experience I've gotten so far is getting a push notification from stream.place, logging in to the stream, and chatting with oomfs. it's perfect

@sarava.net is coming AtmosphereConf and launching Skylimit, an open source Atmosphere client designed to make social media more intentional and less overwhelming. 1/3
AtmosphereConf 2026 is a wrap! We hope all the remote attendees had a great Streamplace experience. When VODs, you ask? They're actually up right now! They're `place.stream.video` records in this repo. One catch: no frontend yet. That's where you come in. Welcome to the Streamplace VOD JAM.

Streamplace VOD JAM - How Streamplace Works
blog.stream.placecouldn't make it to #atmosphereconf so i've been cooking at home instead i'm pretty excited about this one: a way to build real-time collaborative apps with *no dedicated sync infrastructure* — just some static files and atproto
Building More Resilient Local-First Software with atproto | jakelazaroff.com
jakelazaroff.comAtmosphere social client apps should make it easier to broadcast beyond the protocol. Ex. In-app mirroring tools for Threads, X, and other microblogging platforms. As well as having post scheduling. Let people share across the social internet, but make sure ATproto feels like home base.
Guys... GUYS, listen. I am begging you all to think bigger! The Atmosphere may be a fun space to explore how familiar services and apps interact—but it's still just social media. The protocol enables us to change behaviors and solve *systemic* problems It's the thing that gets us TO the thing.
zeu
this is why i love ya'll
Like the bespoke Roomy bridge I just setup that will capture chats from streamplace streams is powered by integrating both streamplace chats *and* the atmosphereconf.org lexicon.community records, to know when to record the chats from which stream! It's crazy how cool that works out.
