I've been pondering about having the browser resolve at:// URLs. I have been thinking that we could introduce a DNS-like (maybe DNS itself?) entity that goes from did:plc to URLs, the same way DNS goes from names to IP, and have the browser depend on that similar to how it depends on a DNS server.

Protocol Handler Registration via Browser Extensions – make everything intensely
Custom URL schemes have traditionally served as an integration bridge between the browser and external capabilities. Schemes such as mailto: and tel: allow navigation to trigger actions beyond ordinary HTTP resource retrieval. The HTML Standard formalizes this mechanism through the Custom Scheme Handlers API, which enables websites to register themselves as handlers for specific URL schemes.
agree i'm doing this (handle is my personal site) but i want to take it further - i want my site content served directly from my pds without needing a third party host not sure there's a path to get there yet.. DNS needs to understand at:// or maybe the PLC could mediate somehow?
