Looks like someone had a change of heart and the Butterfly is back! @consilium.europa.eu and the @ec.europa.eu are keeping two distinct channels open: one for Bluesky &Co. One for WSocial.

Blue Sky Thinking, European Infrastructure: Internet Archive Europe Has Moved to Eurosky - Internet Archive Europe
We've moved our Bluesky presence. Our account looks the same. Our data now lives somewhere different, on European infrastructure, under European law. Here's why we made that choice. What changed and what didn't When you use Bluesky, your posts, followers, and interactions live on a server. By default, that server belongs to Bluesky. Moving to

#WSocial will open up their beta program today… and I have a SCOOP for you: it appears that they have quietly gone closed-source! This is ironic, considering that the @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu just unveiled their Tech Sovereignty Package, emphasizing the importance of #OpenSource. And yet they have migrated their main ATproto accounts to W Social - whose code can no longer be inspected! Do you remember the surprise announcement of a new social network in Davos this past January? Something that promised to be the "first" European social network? Its name is #WSocial and it's a fork of #Bluesky. Its founders have ties with European politicians - but there is no official involvement by the EU. You wouldn't know any of this from media reports because they all rehashed their talking points. So I wrote a post about it, dispelling some myths: https://blog.elenarossini.com/w-social-uncovered-the-reality-behind-the-hype/ #OpenWashing

Streamplace is honored to be powering @wsocial.eu's broadcast of @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu's State of the European Union this Wednesday, Sep 16. The broadcast will be available at live.wsocial.eu and stream.place/ec.europa.eu starting at 8am CEST. Streamplace was built for exactly this moment.
@leafplaza.eu got an answer. The @ec.europa.eu says our claim about the promotion for @wsocial.eu by several EU leaders is out of scope and asks us to redirect it to the DG CNECT. We will do that, but also we disagree and are escalatinh this matter to the EU Ombudsman.

This is our blog article explaining why @leafplaza.eu filed a complaint against the @ec.europa.eu after their public endorsement of @wsocial.eu and missing transparency in the process. We hope @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu takes this matter seriously. leafplaza.leaflet.pub/3moxlxlfl2s2a
European Commission @ec.europa.eu removed the Bluesky logo from its social links and replaced it with the dubious closed fork of Bluesky called “W” which has privacy issues 😬
Nicolas Hénin
They removed it quickly 😳 Hurry up, let’s have a common logo for all the microblogging apps in the Atmosphere!

LeafPlaza filed a complaint against the European Commission. Here is why.

@leafplaza.eu just presented an official complain. Also, setup a whole chain of official follow ups on this complain. We know our rights, no other European ATP project has been giving the advantage W Social received and that goes against Commission Decision (EU) 2024/3083 - Art. 4.
New from me, on the decision by the @ec.europa.eu to not extend the DMA interoperability requirements to social media, and how this closes off a pathway for mass adoption of open social networks. connectedplaces.online/reports/fr162-eu-regulation-w…
