Build decentralized social media with ATproto
The promise of ATproto is social media without corporate overlords

Building @skysquare.app, I’ve thought a lot about what the future of the @atproto.com ecosystem might look like, and I’m increasingly excited by the possibilities. Skysquare is a useful demonstration of something that feels much bigger than the application itself—the portability of the ATProto post.

newpublic.orgSome more ideas about how I think to build an atproto app for artists from the needs I see in my community, and how I envision to grow this into a longer term project. I am curious about your feedback and who is interested to participate.
Artist app diary (2): how to stay sustainable with community building and financial funding
hilkeu.leaflet.pubI would definitely like to see an Atproto Foundation which: - oversees the com.atproto lexicon - maintains the website as a community effort in a separate github org - owns the trademarks - sets a "community covenant" for events/groups wishing to use that in your name

"With atproto, any web developer can get, for free, a sign-in system and a place to store stuff. If you don't build for the web, that may sound like no big deal, but trust me that it opens up an enormous range of possibility."

through-the-wire.leaflet.pubI wonder if having some kind of "atproto Foundation" would help with fundraising for the broader atmosphere? Currently there is no easy way to invest in the atmosphere so would-be funders default to bsky cc @ecosystemaction.com

Knight Foundation's kind of an exception here, tbh, and has a specific interest that's different from the VCs—and also a specific connection into the protocol. I'd love to see them send money to a slew of atmosphere projects and I wouldn't be super surprised if they did.
