Yesterday Bluesky went down. @eurosky.social servers worked but we couldn't communicate as we don't have an app. Our next step is to build everything we need to operate without Bluesky. We're raising €100,000 to build a European app backend supporting 100k+ users. Let's do this fund.eurosky.tech
Accelerate building an independent European social web
fund.eurosky.techwe’re rolling out the first phase of the Bluesky + standard.site integration today! now, when you share an article from writing platforms that support standard.site (like @leaflet.pub, @pckt.blog, @offprint.app), you’ll notice the link card has more to it than a typical link card.
Bluesky
v1.122 is rolling out today, featuring a better way to discover and share articles, blog posts and newsletters across the Atmosphere via new, dynamic Standard.site link cards. 🧵
Bluesky's AppView performance has not been so great recently, right? Long loading times with "Please check your internet connection" or "rate limit exceeded" Thinking it may be folks off of the Bluesky PDS's. Thought it was android oddities, but I get it on desktop and have heard from others
Some W users experienced problems today because W was relying on Bluesky’s AppView. When their AppView went down, parts of W went down with it. Our own AppView was already under development and it kept working. So we’ve now switched W over to our own AppView, currently serving verified users only.
About a ~dozen things from the first ~month of the year, retroactively aggregated…likely some you may have missed! Both new features — page width, small/large text, cover images, editable post dates — and improvements to things like mentions, block handling, and our Bluesky thread viewer ✨
New year Leaflet improvements roundup
lab.leaflet.pubWhen @bsky.app pulls this kind of crap often, whilst also expecting the community to do the heavy-lifting in actually convincing people to try out the AT Protocol... it's really difficult to feel hopeful about the future of Bluesky and its constituents. I imagine many agree with this stance.
Rude1 Haunted Badness. ⁂
Bluesky’s statement deriding Threads users as “guinea pigs” is not representative of Blacksky Algorithms, the atproto ecosystem or the open social web more broadly. Communities form around communication networks. And communities should never be trolled for whatever tool helps them find each other.
important update to the bluesky social-app repo for all the bluesky forks that exist already basically any social-app fork needs to change/remove a bunch of images, icons, etc. github.com/bluesky-social/social-app/blo…
