Bluesky is under fire for allowing usernames with racial slurs
Bluesky’s moderation woes continue as users threaten to leave the site in protest of its failure to flag slurs in account usernames. We should stop calling it as Bluesky "account". It's Bluesky "profile", not "account". I'm not saying people should learn about the whole #atproto business to use Bluesky, but at least they should know that their "account" is part of larger world and not tied to just Bluesky.

Getting lots of questions about login. When you login to bsky38.com you're really logging into your Bluesky account on their webpage. We never see your password. Bluesky can let other websites use it as authentication, similar to "Login with Google." The screen found here bsky.social/account

1. My new preprint has its own bluesky account. Why? The problems facing social media & scientific publishing are similar: both are dominated by powerful oligopolies. The @atproto.com tech underlying bluesky that aims to solve the social media prob might also help solve the scientific pub prob 🧪 🧵

Does this "promote" or "ossify" the Blueksy account lexicon now deeply into atproto as the canonical "account"?

BlueSky is not a service unto itself, but rather another component of a fully functioning distributed system made useful by atprot
Your Bluesky account is a lot more than just a Bluesky profile. For instance, I also use @leaflet.pub (website/newsletter), @grain.social (pictures), @popfeed.social (movies, TV shows), @bookhive.buzz (books), @tangled.org (code), @margin.at and @semble.so (social bookmarks). #EconSky

x.comi think, end of the day, the real problem with Bluesky is that most of its users are here *because* they want to be in a bubble. and they can tell themselves that it’s just about not being around Nazis it supporting Musk, and that’s part of it, but also there’s a palpable desire to be ensconced.
