another good nugget from #ATmosphere conf delivered by @eclecticcapital.bsky.social: ATProtocol could offer "open enough to scale, closed enough to mean something" ‘the successful outcomes will look more like "guilds" and "collectives" than traditional startups’

Research Project for ATProto Ecosystem Brand and User Experience Needs
Hello atproto builders — I’m a long time lurker and first time forum poster. I met some of you at Atmosphere conf in March, but for the most part have been thinking and talking about how I might get involved and support what’s happening here, rather than diving in. It’s been deeply heartening over the last couple years to see this community emerge and all the work so many of you have put in to make Atmosphere conf and all the other great atproto meetups and conferences—and community contribution...

The Open Organization Definition
Openness is becoming increasingly central to the ways groups and teams of all sizes are working together to achieve shared goals. And today, the most forward-thinking organizations—whatever their missions—are embracing openness as a necessary orientation toward success. They've seen that openness can lead to:
Opensocial.community proposal
Hey folks! This is an opinionated proposal I put together for the community WG. Still a few open questions/uncertainties that I list at the ned. Check it out here: opensocial communities proposal - Google Docs Feel free to comment here or we can chat more in the next WG meeting.

A conceptual model of ATProto and ActivityPub
If you were to design an open social networking protocol, what would that look like? Which metaphors and comparisons would you use to get a general idea of how the network functions? And what would you answer if people ask if your network is decentralised and federated?

About - Open Collective
Open Collective was founded by idealists to make online communities more sustainable. What began as a tool for open source and grassroots groups has grown into a global infrastructure for transparency, collaboration, and shared financial stewardship.

Opportunity for some atproto talks to spread the word about what we’re building in the Atmosphere. Perhaps a @eurosky.social talk?

FYI #OpenSource friends: call for papers for Luxembourg's October OS conference. Proposals for 20 min talks are due late August. This makes 2 years I've not been able to go, so, vicariously, please consider it! It's especially strong on OS for sovereignty, gov, AI, and, this year, edtech.
It’s a bit of an open secret that a group of us is working on forming an Atmosphere Community Co-op (which we’ll share more about publicly soon!) @roguewave.design created an open collection on @semble.so called Co-operatives. Please do share resources there.

semble.soI wonder if having some kind of "atproto Foundation" would help with fundraising for the broader atmosphere? Currently there is no easy way to invest in the atmosphere so would-be funders default to bsky cc @ecosystemaction.com
Erin Kissane
Knight Foundation's kind of an exception here, tbh, and has a specific interest that's different from the VCs—and also a specific connection into the protocol. I'd love to see them send money to a slew of atmosphere projects and I wouldn't be super surprised if they did.
