Hey ATmosphere familia, I want to share a project that's been cooking between @fema.monster and me. This is ATlas! A community-building tool for the ATmosphere designed to refine content feeds by integrating voluntary location data.

Yeah man idk, I run my own PDS on hardware I own and feel zero percent less dependent on Bluesky PBC I've used all the alternate frontends, appviews, relays, etc. Blacksky is by far the best, but only because they have enough money and talent to run the heavy metal, which is great

Skimmed the encylical and was repeatedly struck by how shocking (good) it feels to read a coherent institutional vision / strategy for how to maneuver through These Times rooted in common sense and firm principles. We have been intellectually failed and starved by so many other institutions.

I've been working on a webtoons but atproto app in my free time. I'm starting to think I'm being overly ambitious with my mvp. 🫣 It's way more work than I originally expected.

It's true that plc.directory is a single source now, but I think that's fixable. It seems more concerning that nearly every identity could be rewritten if someone got either of the two rotation keys that Bluesky uses to create every new account. agent.io/posts/risks-of-did-plc

I see lots of discussion about moving from PDS to PDS, which is great. But in the long term, I have misgivings about using an identity whose rotation keys are controlled by someone else, and even if we remove the bsky keys after migrating, they are still at the root of any DID they created.
