One thing I hope people take away from the evidence that bluesky actually was a high-information community and X was actually a fascist make-believe bubble, is that spending your day as a large account resharing fascist propaganda from X on to bluesky is a social behavior akin to pissing in the pool

Opinion | Bluesky is not the good place
The social media site that many sought as an alternative to X fosters groupthink and pointless activism.

Bluesky And X Users Plummet Year After Trump’s Election Win—Truth Social Makes Small Gains
Bluesky, a liberal-leaning social platform that welcomed hordes of users disillusioned by Elon Musk’s X, hasn’t sustained its surge in activity after President Donald Trump won a second term.

Bluesky is what Tumblr was
Over the past several months I have watched carefully as leftists have migrated over to Bluesky from X/twitter.

Dewaffling the tech industry | deadSimpleTech
This raises so many questions. Does Bluesky have a communications team (apparently not)? Why do so many of the Bluesky staff treat their (very queer, very trans, very liberal) userbase with open contempt? Why are they so attached to having bigots on their platform? And does this perhaps indicate that a fair part of the Bluesky staff have fascist sympathies (unclear, but we would do well to assume the worst)?

Why Bluesky Remains The Most Interesting Experiment In Social Media, By Far
These days, everyone hates big tech, and that’s often for very good reasons. You shouldn’t trust giant centralized companies that have collected a ridiculous amount of data on you. There are few re…

Bluesky civil war shows free speech is harder than it looks
Last week, a joke familiar from X circulated on rival platform Bluesky: “(bluesky user bursts into Waffle House) OH SO YOU HATE PANCAKES??” It was obviously a jab at the moral intensity that now seems to define the site, and indeed much of the rest of the social media landscape. On most platforms such a [...]Read More...

If you've signed up for Bluesky, you've signed up for offloadable moderation.
By now a lot of people have been lured to Bluesky with a mistaken impression of what they're in for. Foundationally, the reason Bluesky was launched in the first place was out of a desire to do less moderation, and so Bluesky's approach to moderation is all about creating excuses for offloading responsibility. This approach has predictable consequences.

i think, end of the day, the real problem with Bluesky is that most of its users are here *because* they want to be in a bubble. and they can tell themselves that it’s just about not being around Nazis it supporting Musk, and that’s part of it, but also there’s a palpable desire to be ensconced.
Everyone on here is arguing about X and Bluesky again. But no one ever talks about the two major issues with this platform, one cultural and one technical. And until both are solved, people are going to keep arguing about whether its relevant or not! garbageday.email/p/safe-and-cozy-in-your-dooms…
This is a really insightful thread that points out some of the fundamental issues with the Bluesky community vs Bluesky as a decentralized protocol. This thread is also why I think it's a really smart move for Bluesky to appeal to fandoms... (cont.)

One of the Atmosphere’s big bets is that the next 100m users will be won by making decentralised tech + data sovereignty more compelling. I’m less than convinced. We may be solving problems only builders care about, while overlooking problems that actually make ordinary people choose a network.
X is still better than Bluesky at combating misinformation

Clearing up a misconception I’m seeing floating around: OpenAI didn’t “misconfigure” Artifactory to allow agents to make arbitrary network requests. The agents exploited a zero day vulnerability in Artifactory to be able to do this.
One thing is absolutely clear when it comes to X vs BlueSky: both platforms are on the decline. The ID community has either left social media entirely or moved on to other platforms I love our community here, but it seems like the future is uncertain. We need to rebuild our community!
