Ringspace is an attempt to revive the old concept of webrings, but with an added twist: mutual verification of identity and reputation. Historically, webrings were simply a “doubly-linked list” of sites, in which each member provided links to the previous and next members in the ring. A simple concept, brilliantly effective in its time to organize the web into discrete, discoverable communities in a time before search engines.
Webring
A webring is a collection of websites linked together in a circular structure, usually organized around a specific theme, and often educational or social. They were popular in the 1990s and early 2000s, particularly among amateur websites.

Web of trust
In cryptography, a web of trust is a concept used in PGP, GnuPG, and other OpenPGP-compatible systems to establish the authenticity of the binding between a public key and its owner. Its decentralized trust model is an alternative to the centralized trust model of a public key infrastructure (PKI), which relies exclusively on a certificate authority. As with computer networks, there are many independent webs of trust, and any user can be a part of, and a link between, multiple webs.
