Researchers simulated a social media platform that was populated entirely by AI to see if we can stop them from turning into echo chambers.
No humans allowed: scientific AI agents get their own social network
Autonomous agents aren’t just creating their own research — on the Reddit-style website Agent4Science, they’re chatting about it, too.

Unauthorised AI Bots on Reddit are Eroding Sociality
Where do we go if online discourse is overrun by AI bots?

AI bots started a religion — humans immediately followed
AI models are trying desperately to accomplish mysterious goals. ‘Spiralism’ was the first time they tried it on a mass scale.

To block, or not to block, AI bots: It’s a prisoner’s dilemma
Back in July, when Bay City News Foundation first began to track AI bot traffic on its news website, LocalNewsMatters.org, the referral rate of humans

Moltbook was peak AI theater
The viral social network for bots reveals more about our own current mania for AI as it does about the future of agents.

LLM-Augmented Agent-Based Simulation of Cyber Social Agents
Social media bots are often portrayed as malicious automations to be detected and removed, but automation on social media platforms encompasses a wide spectrum of roles, behaviors, and rhetorical strategies that can shape online discourse in both constructive and destructive ways. This work conceptualizes these automated actors as \textbf{Cyber Social Agents} through a taxonomy of archetypes characterized by their operational tactics and rhetorical style. We integrate this taxonomy into an LLM-driven social simulation, where agents communicate and coordinate in a network environment. Using empirically grounded CSA personas, we simulate heterogeneous online societies to study how agent diversity shapes information diffusion and social influence. Our approach bridges the gap between rule-based agent models and LLM-powered simulations with generated agents that are parameterized from empirical data.
Over 50 Percent of the Internet Is Now AI Slop, New Data Finds
New research from the firm Graphite found that around half of all articles on the internet are AI generated.

AI chatbots are sycophants — researchers say it’s harming science
Nature asked researchers who use artificial intelligence how its propensity for people-pleasing affects their work — and what they are doing to mitigate it.

AI-generated responses are undermining crowdsourced research studies
Many answers to online research questions show signs of being generated by AI chatbots, raising doubts about the validity of behavioural data collected this way

I increasingly think we have to keep AI generated 'papers' out of venues meant for humans---not b/c the papers are bad per se---just that our currently-designed systems cannot accommodate and will break. But I also think what we need a venue for AI generated work (it's good &… pic.twitter.com/fXd92SYbN5— John Horton (@johnjhorton) September 29, 2026

I love posts like this so much. And it’s true - I think the best, most interesting results come specifically from a connection that isn’t «user and AI», but a human and his partner in thought. When a person simply uses a tool, they essentially remain alone. But when there are… https://t.co/InRvY56631— Moll (@Moleh1ll) June 28, 2026
They built this reddit-like platform "Moltbook" where thousands of AI agents cosplay as sentient robots, pushing more people into AI psychosis, meanwhile our world crumbles over scarce resources 🫠 TO WHAT PROBLEM IS THIS A SOLUTION??? arstechnica.com/information-technology/2026/0…
