How to ACTUALLY Quit Spotify.
Backing up Spotify
We backed up Spotify (metadata and music files). It’s distributed in bulk torrents (~300TB). It’s the world’s first “preservation archive” for music which is fully open (meaning it can easily be mirrored by anyone with enough disk space), with 86 million music files, representing around 99.6% of listens.

“It can be a little scary,” Hotline TNT frontman Will Anderson says of taking his music off Spotify, “but one of the things we’re trying to do is illustrate that it might not be as scary as you think.”
How to do music streaming right in the Atmosphere? This weekend I propose a lexicon that brings the music industry and atproto builders together: artists and labels can upload music with all the metadata needed for the whole monetization chain hilkeu.leaflet.pub/3mhzj3ouxx22k @atprotocol.dev

Attached: 1 image Yesterday my Spotify subscription expired, and instead of renewing, I finally moved on. But downloading 500+ songs manually is hell, so I built ZipifyTunes; a simple tool that converts any playlist CSV into MP3s with album art + metadata! Now I’m listening offline again on my iPod Nano 5th gen and loving it. And with @peersky I can even upload the ZIP to IPFS or Hypercore and stream my songs from public gateways on my phone. If you want to save hours of work, try it: https://github.com/akhileshthite/zipify-tunes
