What do music playlists, bookmarks, photo albums, pinned locations on maps all have in common? Well, they are all types of user-curated collections. So I've written a proposal for a lexicon that handles heterogenous collections of *things*.

Cooperative playlists
I’m working on collaborative audio playlists and was wondering if this design makes sense for atproto. How it works Two lexicons of importance: sh.diffuse.output.collaboration sh.diffuse.output.playlistItem sh.diffuse.output.playlistItem has the following properties (besides the usual id, etc): criteria: which audio track to match with. playlist: the name of the playlist this item belongs to. positionedAfter: the id of the item to position this one after (none = start) The way we as...

At Spotify, we aim to create great and unique experiences for each user. Our goal is to connect everyone with what they love and help them discover something new. No two listeners are the same, so everyone's Spotify experience, and many of our recommendations, are personalized. When asked what they like about Spotify, most listeners cite our personalization as their top feature. You might wonder how we generate these recommendations across the Home feed, playlists, search results or other parts of the service, and we want to help demystify how they work.

this is what I am *TALKING* about. I'm sure I'm late but this is such a cool idea from @semble.so. Collections are not new but mapping the specific kind of relationship between two things?? And this is publicly usable shared knowledge? Social knowledge as a service, beautiful.

to be fair we are also getting that from projects, I am just greedy and want to see even more. For example with @germnetwork.com, E2EE messaging is not new but multiple sub-identities in one inbox is. Show us something weird and new if/when you adopt an existing experience but for atproto.
At Side Project Saturday (hosted by @val.town) I demoed a bookmarking service I'm building to learn more about ATProto and user-owned data. I've a bit stuck on bookmark lexicons and what belongs in a record. Thx to @awarm.space for suggesting I write down my questions donohoe.dev/2026/bookmark-lexicons-atprot…
What Is a Bookmark?
donohoe.devThere are a lot of architectural bits, but if I had to pick one design feature it's Lexicons. Lexicons allow for new shared data types and structures in a way that are immediately available on network for any other service provider to adopt. Getting shared agreement in ActivityPub is hard.
