Photograph by Wilson Alwyn "Snowflake" Bentley (1865–1931) one of the first known photographers of snowflakes. Each snow crystal was caught on a blackboard and transferred rapidly to a microscope slide where it was photographed through the microscope. He would capture more than 5,000 images of crystals in his lifetime.

Internet Archive
We saw the www.lostlandscapes.org show which was put on to benefit the Internet Archive which suffered from a fire recently. The show featured footage of SF from the 1920s to 1980s. The soundtrack is the crowd, as they yell out recognized locations and ask questions, etc. The Internet Archive (which has the Wayback Machine) is located in a former church. The grand hall is where the show was held, and you can see that the church pews are still in tact. In the alcoves at the back are two server racks which store the master copy of the archives. On the edges are little statues. Those are representations of people who dedicated many hours volunteering for the archive. The one I happened to photograph is Aaron Swartz.

Weegee's Secrets Of Shooting With Photoflash
Weegee served an apprenticeship in the darkroom of Acme Newspictures, then went on to free lance with the street of New York as his studio.... In time the name Weegee became legendary, descriptive of a different kind of photograph...one that captured the exciting drama of life. Pathos, humour, tragedy --all these were senitively etched on film by one who love and understood people. After watching him work on several assignments, I suggested he write the story of how he takes his pictures and that's how this booklet was born. We both hope "Weegee's Secrets" will provide the formula for better pictures. (Mel Harris)
