Why do so many vastly-wealthy tech personalities go mad? My ideal job involves being employed by a millionaire tech-bro. Just before they get on stage, or moments before they file a lawsuit, or an instant before they publish their thought leadership - I will appear to them. I will be dressed in rags, body smeared with excrement, weeping sores blotching my face. I will sidle up to them, lean…
The scent of Musk: Power, charisma and paranoia in Silicon Valley
I'm an American software developer and the "broligarchs" don't speak for me - ratfactor
Here I am, a software developer in the year 2025. I look around at "tech" in the news and in culture and I don’t like what I see. Something has gone very, very wrong with the Big Tech bros. I can no longer keep silent because it pains me to imagine these people representing ME.

Building personal and organizational prestige
Most months I get at least one email from an engineering leader who believes they’d be a candidate for significantly more desirable roles if their personal brand were just better known. Tech Workers: Friends or Foes?
Tech workers’ high pay doesn’t mean they’re not workers — and it won’t always protect them from their bosses.

Facebook faces a reputational meltdown
This is how it, and the wider industry, should respond

In Praise of “Normal” Engineers
Software engineer Charity Majors challenges the "10x engineer" myth, arguing that true productivity lies in team performance, not individual brilliance. She encourages building workplaces where "normal" engineers can thrive. Are we focusing too much on hiring "the best" instead of the right people?

Take it from the insiders: Silicon Valley is eating your soul | John Harris

‘Headed for technofascism’: the rightwing roots of Silicon Valley
The industry’s liberal reputation is misleading. Its reactionary tendencies – celebrating wealth, power and traditional masculinity – have been clear since the dotcom mania of the 1990s
