But the most important part is that it practically works as an extension of the web. We can add social features to our websites without even mentioning atproto. Frictionless adoption

🧵 I've been wracking my brain around ATProto onboarding. Why do all ATProto apps make you create a new account before you can do anything interesting? Why don't we let people start with an email address or phone #? Then claim your identity if/when the need actually arises.

why does every little atproto app being cooked up rn have to have a frontend Designed By Claude ™️ why are we so hyped about social data and an open internet and then turning to ai when its time to create and play

I was thinking about funding again. I'm thinking that it would be really good if we could create a website similar to an ATProto app listing, but focused on founders.

@danabra.mov do you think it makes sense to frame atproto as providing a data and identity layer to the web, or as aiming to improve the web? I never want to overstep (see crypto claiming web3) but atproto is extremely web-brained like you said, and the web is where a lot of the utility shines

An atproto browser makes this easier to pitch and explain in my experience. things like webtil.es could make atproto more legible to folks and provide a clear value difference. "Join a community -> stream/go live, etc" in 1 app @stream.place in Blacksky demo as an example
