Bridges & The Last Network Effect
We're in an exciting moment for the open social web. As Elon makes one bad decision after another on X, we've seen waves of users leave the platform for alternatives. Three obvious beneficiaries of these, ahem, lapses of judgment are Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon. What's particularly interesting about these three

Tear Down Walls, and Build Bridges
A libre networking project that's designed to bridge protocol spaces together announced its progress and intentions, and Mastodon users freaked out.

Moats & Drawbridges
www.augment.inkthis is, I think, the path to atproto victory: social platforms have become samey network effect vehicles that exist only to copy each others' features, so all atproto has to do is build a large enough network effect of its own that it can absorb closed socials' features in the same way

one thing is it seems there's a lot more fast copying for eg every 'social' thing converging on shortform video / all kind of looking like each other but with their existing users. this is a very anecdotal impression though
