In system theory, it is called "linearization"... which has been studied and used for decades. Honestly, folks, there is no need to invent or introduce any new terminology. Remember, there is rarely anything new under the sun... https://t.co/yNLIv7Ptoh— Yi Ma (@YiMaTweets) March 14, 2026
Serpentine software
I don’t usually write hot takes. But StrongDM’s Software Factory post is worth it, so here goes. Their post is elegant, short, and well-written, so I’m going to just go through a bunch of pull quotes. Compounding correctness long-horizon agentic coding workflows [now] compound correctness rather than error This is a big, empirical claim. I’m already convinced by my own experiences that agents, suitably scaffolded, can form a Brownian ratchet, such that pouring on more compute helps, on balance.

Boundaries
This talk is about using simple values (as opposed to complex objects) not just for holding data, but also as the boundaries between components and subsystems. It moves through many topics: functional programming; mutability's relationship to OO; isolated unit testing with and without test doubles; and concurrency, to name some. The "Functional Core, Imperative Shell" screencast mentioned at the end is available as part of season 4 of the DAS catalog.

Agents Over Bubbles
Agents are fundamentally changing the shape of demand for compute, both in terms of how they work and in terms of who will use them. They’re so compelling that I no longer believe we’re…

Hey interoperability nerds: I need a word for actors in distributed social media systems that provide content moderation services. Blockparty is an example. Bluesky labelers and algorithm providers are examples. Blacksky is an example because of its content rules (but having a PDS doesn't matter).
"Teams working across organizational boundaries, sharing structured data, and building on each other’s work with ease." I know it's called "adversarial interop", but it actually feels like "community interop", at least right now
