I want to catch you all up on some stuff but mostly I want to tell the story of Stack Overflow in a not-completely-disorganized way.
What does Stack Overflow want to be when it grows up?
I sometimes get asked by regular people in the actual real world what it is that I do for a living, and here’s my 15 second answer: We built a sort of Wikipedia website for computer programmers to post questions and answers. It’s called Stack Overflow. As of

what angel wakes me
welcome to my website! 🎀 i know very little about coding and mostly do everything from scratch. i keep things very simple because i like the straightforwardness of old websites, and care more about contents than detail. i am also not a very organised person and i imagine my mind often like plunging my hand into mud and swirling it around and when i occasionally succeed at pulling something out i like to share it (put it on the internet). i also struggle to find anything that isn't a subject on a pink background superfluous, which really makes it hard for me to envision things like a website layout...... this site is best viewed on a computer. there are no sudden sounds or flashing images on this site. sometimes there are bright colours. i am also an adult and talk about my adult life a lot. anything nsfw or heavy i will do my best to indicate beforehand. thank you for visiting! >_< <3
The Blog of Maxime Heckel
Hi I'm Maxime, and this is my blog. In here, you'll find all the articles I wished I had when I was learning about web development, shaders, real-time 3D on the web, and more. Each piece I write aims to dive deep into the topics I'm passionate about, while also making complex topics more accessible through interactive playgrounds, visualization, and well detailed walkthroughs. My goal is to give you the tools and intuition to explore further on your own.

In your Web browser, of course. And not all of me; that'd be weird! You're using Firefox, right? You can catch up by email with 112 other folks, on a social network in the Meta, commonly known as Facebook, Threads, Blacksky in the Atmosphere or X, commonly known as Twitter as I continue to share and work on all things towards history, open digital technology, culture — and everything in between. I write essays of varying length; most recently I wrote "On the Notion of Shutting the Fuck up". I keep notes weekly and (near) daily links. Here's what I use on the regular.

I believe we should all blog more and connect more with strangers. There's not much I can do as an individual. I can offer to be your first reader, …

We talk a lot about how broken the internet is for all of us as individuals. Doomscrolling, algorithmic feeds, overall exhaustion at The Horrors. But this...

You have to mainline info all the time because our information tools make you do so. Infinite scroll timelines, group chats with no beginning or end, recommender algorithms with no sense of place — all of them require constant vigilance to make sense of. We can do better.

had a death in the family and was almost completely off the internet for a few days & my observation is that there is too much happening too fast such that basic facts abt the world are difficult to ascertain unless you are mainlining info all the time & doing that seems to drive people insane
At @cascadiajs.com this year I gave a talk about #atproto and the Atmosphere: the open social ecosystem Bluesky and many other apps are built on, and what it means to actually own your data. I made a bunch of silly drawings for it, and I'm sharing them in this 🧵!
