Votes and Proceedings | Legislative Assembly of BC
Just as Hansard is a substantially verbatim report of what was said by each MLA in the Legislative Assembly or in one of its committees, the daily Votes and Proceedings are similar to minutes and can best be described as the official summary record of the decisions and activities undertaken each day in the Legislative Assembly. A listing of all bills introduced, documents tabled, motions debated, decisions made, and the results of any votes in the Assembly are all recorded in the Votes and Proceedings. It also outlines the status of all legislation introduced in the session.
Bills and Legislation | Legislative Assembly of BC
Making laws is one of the primary functions of the Legislative Assembly, and the legislative process is a substantial focus of each sitting day. A bill must pass through several stages before becoming law. Except in urgent or exceptional cases, each stage occurs on a different day to allow detailed examination of each bill.
