Every time someone threatens not to use an atproto app I think about a dinner I had where a Threads dev told me they onboard the entirety of the Bluesky/Atmosphere user base every single day. And Threads comes up in casual conversation I have with people. So im curious

What do you like about Threads?
Just updated my @val.town based fediverse bridge (bsky -> mastodon) to include self reply threads. Don't know why I did not get around to that before but with that change it's pretty much feature complete now I think val.town/x/tijs/atproto-to-fediverse

www.val.townthe reason Threads is showing growth is that it is tied into other things that are not microblogging and to the extent Bluesky grows from here it is likely that atproto will need the same path

the thing about bluesky is dying discourse is that I can't really do anything about it I mean yeah this place is mostly the same people talking to each other, that's true, it's still fun if it shuts down at some point that sucks, I hope it doesn't, that's all I got
There aren’t any models like this right now built into the protocol. There are a couple of proofs of concept. @brittanyellich.com has some code for communities - thread in ATProto touchers discord.com/channels/1097580399187738645/… Brittany will have better links.

Very glad you asked! Bluesky runs on tech called AT Protocol, which lets you use that same account on sites like rpg.actor via process called OAuth which keeps your password away from our server. Login actually takes you to a bsky.social page that lists what read / write our site wants in to use:
