Project Xanadu
Wired magazine published an article entitled "The Curse of Xanadu", calling Project Xanadu "the longest-running vaporware story in the history of the computer industry".[3] The first attempt at implementation began in 1960, but it was not until 1998 that an incomplete implementation was released. A version described as "a working deliverable", OpenXanadu, was made available in 2014.
Project Xanadu: Even More Hindsight
Retrospective on Project Xanadu’s success and failure: a lack of design iteration, meaningful use-cases, or practicality stopped a valuable vision from maturing into something useful. (And contrasted with my approach.)

The lessons of Xanadu
“The longest-running vaporware story in the history of the computer industry”

The Curse of Xanadu
It was the most radical computer dream of the hacker era. Ted Nelson's Xanadu project was supposed to be the universal, democratic hypertext library that would help human life evolve into an entirely new form.

XrossMediaBar
The XrossMediaBar is a graphical user interface developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. The interface features icons that are spread horizontally across the screen. Navigation moves the icons, instead of a cursor. These icons are used as categories to organize the options available to the user. When an icon is selected on the horizontal bar, several more appear vertically, above and below it. They, in turn, are selectable by the up and down directions on a directional pad.

Xanadu Was Waiting for Agents
From the Zed Blog: Ted Nelson specified the docuverse sixty years ago. The technology finally arrived, and so did its native users.
Lexicon Community needs a proper logo. I'm leading the effort to commission one and looking for a co-lead. Please volunteer, suggest someone, or repost. discourse.atprotocol.community/t/lexicon-community-icon/853
Lexicon community icon
discourse.atprotocol.communitycan someone get a design/branding grant to give @atmosphere.community a brand that will work for universal login? the goose is a fantastic mascot, it's just not a logo (i.e. it doesn't work on a universal login button). the @ is cool, but not distinct enough. it's also too techie.
bubba says: try Solenoid!
this may run counter to your thinking, which is why I'll suggest it to challenge you: a webwide login should use the Bluesky icon and name, not "atmosphere". Facebook logins never changed to Meta- I think it will be hard to build trust with a "faceless" service as a universal account.
The @lexicon.community is commissioning a logo as a paid engagement, funded by the AT Community Fund. @there-hugo.dev suggested this and is running a process to select a designer Full process details here discourse.atprotocol.community/t/call-for-designers-lexicon-…
