I started as a studio repair technician at Avatar & started a Macbook component level logic board repair business. This channel shows repair & data recovery work & shows how to perform these repairs step by step. There are many things that make it hard to fix things now; willful actions from manufacturers to limit access to parts & schematics. I talked about this to try and spark mainstream recognition of the "Right to Repair" movement. Restrictions placed on repair were just a canary-in the-coal-mine for many of the anti-ownership, anti-consumer practices that would become common in every industry, which I discuss & try to push back against every day. Apple’s $599 MacBook Neo boosts laptop repairability
Multiple teardowns and Apple’s own repair documentation suggest the new $599 MacBook Neo is unusually easy to service for a modern Apple laptop. Inside, the layout is simplified and comes apart quickly with standard Torx screws. Reviewers point to modular, swappable parts—USB‑C ports, speakers, and the headphone jack—plus a battery secured with screws instead of the strong adhesives and tapes that have complicated many prior Mac repairs. One standout change: the keyboard is replaceable as its own part, rather than forcing a swap of the entire “top case” assembly. That shift could cut both downtime and parts costs for common failures. Several outlets frame the Neo as Apple leaning further into Self Service Repair—and responding to broader right‑to‑repair pressure—which could be welcome for schools, businesses, and anyone trying to keep a budget laptop running longer instead of replacing it.
Repair Culture: Learning to Fix Instead of Replace – Wayfinders Now – Living small to gain abundance.
Repair culture is the growing mindset of choosing to fix what’s broken instead of immediately replacing it. It challenges a habit that has become almost automatic in modern life: when something stops working, we discard it. A new phone, a new appliance, a new chair, a new everything. Repair culture asks a quieter question: What […]

Apple Turnaround
I spend a lot of time thinking about what Apple should be doing differently. I wrote Apple Turnover because so many of my notions kept running into a dead end: I could no longer bring myself to believe Apple would do these things without a change in leadership.

Software engineering under the spotlight
Think of a tech company as a giant, dimly-lit factory. Work goes on throughout the factory as components shuffle back and forth, and finished products get steadily carted away, but the coordination and efficiency of each section is fairly low. Some parts of the factory get jammed up and don’t do anything for days. Other parts are manically producing broken components which are thrown away unused. However, the factory manager - i.e. the tech company CEO - has one tool to combat this problem. That tool is the spotlight.

Apple Computer, Inc. v. Franklin Computer Corp.
Apple Computer, Inc. v. Franklin Computer Corp., 714 F.2d 1240 (3d Cir. 1983), was the first time an appellate level court in the United States held that a computer's BIOS could be protected by copyright. As second impact, this ruling clarified that binary code, the machine-readable form of software and firmware, was copyrightable too and not only the human-readable source code form of software.[1][2]

Declaring Systems Bankruptcy
For years and years, I’ve helped teams evaluate their systems, fix their systems, tweak their systems, and evolve their systems. And sometimes it’s even been necessary to help teams declare bankruptcy on their systems, blow them up, and start anew. And now it’s my turn. It started as a slow re
