Will your favorite roguelikes still be playable in 20 years? How about 50? The Uxn/Varvara ecosystem is a radically simple, portable, and personal approach to computing. Learn how to produce games that fit in 64-kilobyte ROMs and which run on 25-year-old hardware as easily as on modern computers or web browsers. Embrace limits to fuel your creativity!

I told y’all this is the move. Heterogenous hardware is the way forward. Large cheap pools of mixed memory + specialized accelerators (Nvidia GPUs, DGX Spark, Cerebras wafers) The next year will be dominated by solutions that split the stack. - 3000$ for a used Mac Studio… https://t.co/zMlScSnJ0X— 0xSero (@0xSero) April 1, 2026
Permacomputing
Permacomputing is a computing design philosophy which aims to improve resilience by using regenerative design in computer and network technology. It is inspired by permaculture.[1] Permacomputing approaches to computing often involve paying more attention to the life-cycle of hardware (including re-use and designing for older hardware),[1] using low-level languages such as FORTH that have greater operability with older hardware, and fostering a more mindful relationship with technology.[2]

Looks like what I've been building is quite similar to what the foundation of Patchwork-26 is. Lots of "tiny apps" (atomization of software, loosely coupled) + just the web. Local-first and where everything revolves around the content (data-first, can use preferred UI/view). Happy to see this! 🎉
