The Weird, Fragmented World of Social Media After Twitter
The common forum that Elon Musk destroyed will never be replaced—and that’s okay.

Context collapse, eternal September, and social backlash. "Bluesky Elders" was meant to refer to communities of early adopters fleeing X and other platforms, my original post was bringing attention to social changes relative to traditionally oppressed groups of early adopters and the effects of Bluesky's "Eternal September" as the platform scaled. "Bluesky elder" The term is used only in two ways: -as an insult -as a joke It came from someone using it back in the day as if some sort of benefits and privilege should come from seniority and time spent on the site. It was, and still is, properly mocked. A meme I made about it from way back:
"Don't Engage, Just Block" absolutely IS the Bluesky motto. The notion of a "Bluesky Elder" is vaguely ridiculous but the ONE THING that we oldheads are good for is telling the new folks that blocking without engagement is praxis, and encouraging them to do it early and often.

"Don't Engage, Just Block" should be the Bluesky motto. We have a chance to start over and make this place better than the other place.
