Fediverse projects - Join the Fediverse
Fediverse projects are the different software parts of the Fediverse. Many of them are replacements for better-known social media platforms.

Growing the Social Web
I'm going to be participating in the Growing the Open Social Web workshop at Fediforum on March 2, 2026. I'm excited to talk to other people who care about the Fediverse about ways to connect more people through ActivityPub. Fediforum invited attendees to publish position papers before the workshop. SWF has a number of hypothesesβ¦

My thoughts on how Ghost might join Fediverse
The folks who make Ghost, the wonderful software that runs this site, and my comic site incredibledoom.com recently put up a poll asking how folks would like them to implement one of their most requested features: ActivityPub support. Here's what I told them.

Welcome | TakahΔ
TakahΔ is an ActivityPub server designed for efficient use on small- to medium-size installations, and which allows you to host multiple domains on the same infrastructure. Itβs currently in an beta state, meaning most things work and it can talk to most of the Fediverse, but thereβs still some polish and features left to add. The flagship instance can be found at takahe.social, and if youβre interested, you can also learn more in our documentation, browse the code on our GitHub repository, come and chat to us on Discord, or read some of Andrewβs blogs about building it.

ActivityPub
ActivityPub is a protocol and open standard for decentralized social networking. It provides a client-to-server (C2S) API for creating and modifying content, as well as a federated server-to-server (S2S) protocol for delivering notifications and content to other servers. ActivityPub is the defining standard of the Fediverse, a decentralised social network of various social interaction models, and content types, which consists of independently managed instances of software such as Mastodon, Pixelfed and PeerTube, among others.
FOSDEM 2026 - How to level up the fediverse
The fediverse isn't done! Or, at least, that's the opinions of ActivityPub co-authors Christine Lemmer-Webber and Jessica Tallon! Discover how we could improve the fediverse with ActivityPub-compatible improvements to add more robust and secure communication/cooperation patterns, decentralized storage and identity, etc! Plus: how Spritely is starting to apply its technology towards exactly this goal, bringing Spritely's next-generation internet tech to the fediverse!

Any big Fediverse users around? In github.com/singi-labs/sifa-workspace/iss⦠we are exploring how to integrate your Fediverse activity into Sifa and what that could/should look like. If you have any ideas/suggestions/opinions about this, we'd love to hear about them before building.

github.comOne thing I left out of my The Everything Account piece was a whole section on Bridgy Fed. Short version: As Bridgy Fed adds more lexicons, it makes the Atmosphere the most versatile and data-owning Fediverse instance in the open social web. Perhaps in a future piece π

I wrote about what I've been calling "The Everything Account" If you're familiar with The Atmosphere, you already know how to get one, and this should hopefully help you explain it to others. For those of you who aren't, you'll be surprised to know you already have one; here's how you use it:
