Web publishing is facing its next challenge: a new iteration of centralizing platforms. BUT there is also a new wave of open protocols and standards that can help us gain our independence. Next month in NYC we are gathering a group of frontier technologists and popular web publishers to discuss how we can sail into this next platform shift as captains. #ProtocolsForPublishers Learn more and sign up here: https://pfp.unternet.co We will be hosting talks on #atproto #mcp #webapplets and web payments, and give publishers the opportunity to interact directly with developers working on these frontier technologies. Thank you to Unternet, Graze Social, Free our Feeds, and betaworks for their support.

ATProto ideas
If AT Protocol becomes “a meaningful layer of the web” — even if it’s only tens of millions of users — then the winning ideas probably won’t only be futuristic...
Conversation here is very helpful framing for ATProto builders. The protocol has re-created the opportunity to restore the web as an open curation ecosystem that isn't controlled by any one platform, built not just on links between pages, but on the relationships between people, links and sources.
Building Through Every Wave: Mike Mcue on the Internet, Mobile, & AI Eras
www.youtube.comHey #atprotodev; should we make a convention for annotating HTML elements with the AT uris they’re built with? (So that, say, a browser extension could offer links to @pds.ls) Something like this? <li typeof="schema:Thing" resource="at://did:web:example.com/org.example.lexicon/rkey">

The web was always social Diving into the idea of bridging different social networks and protocols like ATproto and ActivityPub to enhance the web. Looking back at my personal web journey, from Web 2.0 to now, emphasizing that building connections... herve.bzh/the-web-was-always-social/
The web was always social
herve.bzhOnce you experience shared lexicons and the benefits of a single portable identity, it feels like a new open network. But the most important part is that it practically works as an extension of the web. We can add social features to our websites without even mentioning atproto. Frictionless adoption

The Atmosphere is a new open network. The features: - Your account works on all atmosphere apps - You can switch to a new provider with no fuss - Easy to make your own apps on it - Works great with personal websites And, Bluesky is an atmosphere app.
being utopian about the web is very 90s but this is like everything people dreamed the web would be. I need to read more about atproto asap overreacted.io/open-social/

HTTP gave us hypertext, atproto gives us "social hypertext"
Ronen Tamari
Needless to say, this is all very resonant with our work at @cosmik.network @semble.so - we’re passionate about developing hypertext systems that scaffold sensemaking and transformative learning journeys for individual and collectives. Excited to work on bridging theory and practice!

If you're an #atprotodev I'd love your thoughts on this short proposal. I think we'd all benefit from a way to tag our HTML to reference the at:// uris they're derived from! @popfeed.social, @bookhive.buzz, @sifa.id, @leaflet.pub, @pckt.blog, @offprint.app and many more — penny for your thoughts?
