i’m of the opinion that they’re both kinda useless in the bluesky app now AND have been a brilliant psyop (complimentary) that’s had the biggest impact on spreading the word about the atmosphere

look at the impact these simple distinguished @standard.site embeds have had and imagine what will happen with deeper integration between atproto apps

Bluesky Is Not The Center of The Atmosphere | Sam Clemente | Offprint
The Bluesky app is not—and should not be—an everything app
What is Bluesky? Everything to know about the X competitor.
Bluesky is the latest app users are flocking to in an effort to replace X. We answer all your questions about the social network.
Benefits of an open network
While Bluesky looks like other social apps, it’s actually quite different. It’s an open network.
Anisota for Bluesky & the Atmosphere
A new, more peaceful kind of social media interface that helps you be offline more and online better. For Bluesky and the Atmosphere.

The sooner the Atmosphere becomes less Bluesky-centric, the better for everyone, include Bluesky PBC. It's fantastic to have bsky as a launching pad, but the Atmosphere's potential is so so much bigger. Let this year be the year we have big succesful apps where the bsky association is incidental.
I think my favourite part of Bluesky/atmosphere is actually the use of URLs as usernames. It’s always fun seeing what people pick, especially when it’s a non-techie, and it incentivises the wonderful feeling of “oooh, i wonder what i have on their website, i’ll go have a look”
As @ricardo.bsky.social might put it, the infrastructure behind the Bluesky app is becoming more like a product (as opposed to a project). A natural evolution would be to charge Atmosphere app developers who piggyback on it and would like to have standard commercial SLAs and technical support.
AT Protocol Developers
Today we’re launching Bluesky Protocol Services, a new brand and website for the infrastructure Bluesky operates. And Jetstream v2, the best way for developers to use atproto at scale, now with network replay. atproto.com/blog/introducing-bluesky-prot…
