The ATProto community built a ton of great features and products over the past year. For our next trick, let's mature them into products and businesses.

ActivityPub always felt like “I’m creating my own MySpace and you can make yours too if you want”, while AtProto feels more like a revised way to think about how this sort of service should work.

Frankly atproto is a great technology that just has yet to really be successfully productized. A few orgs are putting real work into that productization now but only time will tell if it succeeds.

one thing I really like about atproto is that it provides the infrastructure needed to make open source user apps that actually fucking sync data across devices sorry but the average random hobbyist is absolutely not going to run a user account server for their homebrew todo list app
