A collection of all things related to handling data on computers; be it shaping it via data structures, transforming it via algorithms or addressing it via a combination of both. This is supposed to be a generic collection. These disciplines usually branch based on their applications and fields. By making it generic, you can start exploring topics from a bird's eye view and explore deeper paths as you become interested in particular areas.
What makes something data?
This is a question I posted on BlueSky on Friday 11/21/25, inspired by a talk I recently attended about evaluation of “AI” systems. I think…

visualising data structures and algorithms through animation - VisuAlgo
VisuAlgo was conceptualised in 2011 by Associate Professor Steven Halim (NUS School of Computing) as a tool to help his students better understand data structures and algorithms, by allowing them to learn the basics on their own and at their own pace. Together with his students from the National University of Singapore, a series of visualizations were developed and consolidated, from simple sorting algorithms to complex graph data structures. Though specifically designed for the use of NUS students taking various data structure and algorithm classes (CS1010/equivalent, CS2040/equivalent (inclusive of IT5003)), CS3230, CS3233, and CS4234), as advocators of online learning, we hope that curious minds around the world will find these visualizations useful as well.

Today, data science is a form of power. It has been used to expose injustice, improve health outcomes, and topple governments. But it has also been used to d...

Invariably, it involves trying to trap electrons in increasingly complicated ways.

MyData
The human-centric approach to data is aimed at a fair, sustainable, and prosperous digital society. In such a society, people get value from their data and set the agenda on how it is used. And for organisations, the ethical use of data is always the most attractive option.

Relational foundations for functorial data migration | Proceedings of the 15th Symposium on Database Programming Languages
In this paper we present a simple database definition language: that of categories and functors. A database schema is a small category and an instance is a set-valued functor on it. We show that morphisms of schemas induce three ''data migration ...
