THREAD The first full year of tracking research on @bsky.app Hi, we are Altmetric, and we track how research is communicated across the web. We now have one full calendar year of Bluesky research data and thought we'd have a looksie.

Hmmm, I was expecting semble.so to be something different I think I was expecting the to see a social backlink aggregator and exploration tool, but right now it seems more like social bookmarks

Hello world! We are building *personalized* feeds to help you make sense of research discussions on BlueSky! Pin our first feed below, which shows posts about papers from accounts you follow! Follow this account for more updates! bsky.app/profile/paper-feed.bsky.socia…

Wonderful talk by @sjgreenwood.bsky.social about @paper-feed.bsky.social! Custom feeds on Bluesky are unique resources for researchers interested in recommendation algorithms #IC2S2 Featuring many Bluesky friends like @graze.social @devingaffney.com @kissane.myatproto.social @aendra.com

the bsky team is working on various ideas for creating smaller social spaces in the app. which use case is most interesting to you? 1. posting into "topics" that organize public posts 2. posting into "communities" or "groups" that can be public or private 3. posting directly to your followers only

In 2026, @bsky.app is focused on what’s next for open social: bringing together users for conversations around live events, creator and platform monetization, and private state, giving users truly private data while preserving ownership and portability at the protocol level.

Researchers: Aside from moderation and safety features, what would you want in a researcher-focused social app? Obviously a feed of shared papers, but what else?

A healthier internet isn’t just wishful thinking — our friends at the @prosocialdesign.bsky.social have a whole library of research-backed design solutions for building prosocial spaces online, organized by our Civic Signals research! 🧵
